G-PRIV 220W Starter Kit Review

The G-Priv 220W Starter Kit offers a high-power mod with a maximum output of 220W together with the new Big Baby Beast Tank, which is the smaller version of the TFV8 Cloud Beast but a bigger tank than its original Baby Beast.

g-priv-220w-starter-kitAt first glance, the angular design of the G-PRIV TC 220W with a touch of the color red and black makes this mod a futuristic looking device by SMOK. Constructed from zinc alloy and measuring at 28mm by 85mm by 58.5mm. It is the first device from SMOK to have a FULL feature touch screen function.

This mod features 2.4” multi-functional touch screen. So when I first look at this mod I thought it’s a smartphone dress in a box mod figure. It is quite amazing how SMOKtech puts out crazy ideas in its products and everybody will love it. The face and the back of this device protrudes a little bit making it look sloppy and susceptible from breaking. But for the last week I used it, I figure out that I was wrong. The 2.4” screen is shatter-resistant. Just like SMOK acclaims this mod is. The screen is made off from glass so expect to be a fingerprint magnet but functional and easy to use. Although the display is not multiple colors. It looks very nice and crisp with its grayscale mode.

The carbon fiber battery cover at the back of the mod looks good and has a very strong four solid magnets. The G-PRIV TC 220W is powered by dual 18650 batteries which you can recharge the old ones outside the device and replace them with freshly charged ones, saving you time.

Also, one cool feature about this box mod is its screen locking button like you have on your iPhone and Android phone. An individual button located at the top portion of the mod that basically turns the screen on and off. And can even lock/unlock the touch-screen function when pressing it for 3 – 5 seconds.

Just like other SMOK products the G-PRIV TC 220W has a firing bar mechanism which is nice, tight and firm to press. The firing key of this mod is much better than Alien 220W which is loosely and clicky. It has a minimum rattling sound when moving the firing key from side to side or shaking it vigorously. The device can easily turn on/off by pressing the bar 5 times.

At the top, you can find the 510 spring-loaded connector that has a 26mm in diameter. Which can perfectly fit and look nice in any RTA or sub-ohm tanks under 26mm. The Baby Beast that includes in the starter kit looks pretty convenient sitting flush on its 510 pin.

On the bottom of the mod, you see a lot of venting holes for your batteries and micro-USB port for updating firmware and charging. Although I strongly recommend having an external charger to power up the dual 18650 rechargeable batteries.
